The 2019 St Hugo Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon is a medium dark crimson with garnet hues. Aromas of perfumed blueberries and hints of cocoa with overtones of violets and cooling dried herbs. Elegant and structural at its core with fine chalky tannins complimented by an even floral fruit spectrum, enhanced with subtle toasted oak.

Accolades & Awards:

96 Point Rated - Erin Larkin Halliday Wine Companion
"Matured for 18 months in French oak (40% new). This is massive, the oak a central part of the experience right now. However, at the time of tasting, this wine still has a year and a bit to go before release. The time will be crucial for the ample black and red fruit to soak up that oak, step up on its shoulders and ride the chariot with muscle and power. Concentrated and focused; this will be great in time. The release date (Feb '23): well judged."

95 Point Rated - Campbell Mattinson Halliday Wine Companion
"It's not necessarily a big wine but it has that extra kick of flavour through the finish. It will age like a champion. It offers blackcurrant, black olives, boysenberry and mint flavours with a smooth, creamy vanillin aspect to the texture. Dry tobacco characters add top notes but it's the slow, rolling churn of tannin through the flavour-laden finish that defines and distinguishes."
